Job Description

Full Time:
Yes
Number of Workers Requested:
25
Job Duties:
***RFI Response*** The structural members are for construction and structure framework. Iron being worked could be for main rack, vendor steel , or perimeter structures around job blueprint. lronworkers can be involved in the operation of manual or hydraulic hoisting equipment's if training has been given or if a competent person (Rigger) is overseeing the rigging activity. But as for rigging structural members for erection from a crane hook , lronworkers do not perform that activity . lronworkers can help clear travel paths or possibly hold a tag line . If the Ironworker is a connector, they might be involved in safely removing rigging hardware after steel member has been installed . Responsibilities would be operating hoisting device as directed by (team) directions , typically being a qualified rigger with proper training . Tending with operation might/will include assisting with installing hoisting hardware. Etc. operating elevating work platform to work location or helping move hoisting equipment on location. Any craft member can operate a hoisting device if they have gone through the proper training, but would only be considered assisting and not directing the hoisting operation. lronworkers do not operate any crane or rigging when steel erection is being done with a crane. The rigging department handles that as a whole. lronworkers can assist by moving steel with forklift assistance for crane setup or notifying the riggers what pieces will be installed & in which order. lronworkers will also be able to tend as in clearing flight paths for steel erection or holding taglines. More likely than not riggers on a crane work in pairs so no rigging hardware will need to be handled by lronworkers. ***Original F.a.2*** Prepare and construct structural members to receive and support its intended structural load. Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members. On most projects the crane and rigging department sets the cranes for steel erection. Install steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device. Install members into final position, using turnbuckles, sleaver bars, porta powers, and hand tools. Align holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member by using drift pins, bull pins, spud wrenches and sleaver bars. Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members, using Bazooka bobs, lasers, and levels. Bolt members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place. Modify steel members to make alterations, using oxyacetylene welding equipment or grinders with metal cutting discs. Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and structural members during installation. Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment. Equipment Used to Perform Job: 1. Protective Equipment: Gloves, hard-hat, safety boots, goggles, ear plugs, safety harness, fire-resistant clothing (where required). Project specific. 2. Various long and short handled tools (e.g. wrench., hammer). 3. Power tools (e.g. magnetic drill, cutting torch, pneumatic impact wrench). 4. Tool pouch and tools.
