- Job Duties:
- Perform in-situation (out of position) welding of a variety of components, materials, and joint configurations meeting the requirements of project specifications and the applicable code of construction. Perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) processes. Assist in component installation, fit-up and alignment. Verify position of metal components in assembly, using straight edge, combination square, calipers, and rule. Utilize conventional tools for preparation of welding and clean up. (Grinders, buffers, file, chipping hammer, etc.). Tack-weld components to secure in position for welding. Equipment Used to Perform Job: 1. Protective Equipment: Gloves, safety shoes, hard-hat, goggles, ear plugs, and safety harness. Fireproof coveralls, rainwear and respiratory protection (as required). 2. Various long and short handled tools: straight edge, rule, combination square, calipers, Electrode holder (Stinger), Tig Torch, Oxy-fuel cutting torch, band saw, saw blades, grinder. 3. Welding Hood. 4. Tool bucket and tools. 5. Safety harness weighing up to 7 – 10 labs, worn continuously while above ground. Schedule: Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm; Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Hours subject to change due to weather and project needs.

- Must possess the necessary skill sets to pass the pre-employment welding examination. 1. Lifting: up to 50 lbs, floor to 36 (frequently) up to 50 lbs, floor to 60 (rarely). 2. Carrying: up to 50 lbs for 50 feet (frequently). 3. Pulling: hand over hand, 25 30 lbs, 30 feet vertically while standing in a stooped position (occasionally). 4. Climbing: vertical ladder, 20 25 increments, up to 150 (frequently). 5. Crouching and Reaching: for up to 5 minutes on even, uneven, narrow and/or elevated surfaces (continuously). 6. Kneeling and Reaching: for up to 5 minutes on even and uneven surfaces (continuously). 7. Squatting: for up to 4 minutes on even and uneven surfaces (continuously). 8. Balancing: on rough ground and narrow surfaces 12 (continuously). 9. Overhead Work: form various positions while using tools up to 15 lbs (frequently). 10. Trunk Rotation: while standing, sitting, or kneeling (frequently). 11. Walking: throughout the day on even and uneven surfaces up to 500 (continuously). 12. Grip: 60 lbs.
