- Support daily operations during high-volume seasons, holidays, promotional periods or peak hours by welcoming clients, checking them in, and managing the waiting list or appointment log, keeping the shop tidy and sanitary throughout the day, monitoring supplies (e.g. clean towels, hair products, sanitizing solution) and restocking them as needed, running small errands within the shop (for example, fetching a new product from storage, laundering used towels on-site, or taking out trash); Shampoo and towel-dry clients’ hair in preparation for barbering services; Sanitize and maintain barber tools, chairs, mirrors, floors, and workstations according to health and safety standards; Assist barbers by handing over tools and preparing products needed during service; Maintain inventory of hair and grooming products; Restock shelves as necessary; Keep the shop clean and presentable at all
times, including sweeping hair after each client and disinfecting high-touch surfaces; Provide general customer service, including offering and serving only pre-packed refreshments such as bottled water, canned drinks, and snacks (such as bags of pretzels, cookies, or chips) to customers in the waiting area and ensuring customers comfort during their visit; No specialized certificates, formal training, or professional licensure is required for this support role; The duties can be performed by an entry-level worker and do not require any state barber license, cosmetology certification, or other special credentials; The employee will not cut hair, trim hair or beards, shave customers, apply cosmetic treatments, or perform any service that a licensed barber or cosmetologist would normally provide.
