Job Duties:
Employer’s Temporary Position of Cultural Education/Self-Enrichment Teacher Employer is seeking a Cultural Education/Self Enrichment teacher for her preschool (early education level) child. Based upon research that children learn languages with greater ease and fluency is from birth until around 10 years of age, Employer is seeking an enrichment teacher that is qualified to instruct employer's child in South African culture. As children this age often learn through play, and the "doing of things" employer wishes the incumbent to be able to teach simple age-appropriate cooking, art, history, & etiquette lessons. Specific duties include the following: • Source and execute activities, field trips, etc., that support language and cultural enrichment activities detailed above. • Instruct employer's child in basic early education skills and South African culture to include simple cooking, art, history, & etiquette. Specific duties include the following: • Teach basic reading and math skills adapting materials to meet child's current educational level and interests • Support the cultivation of cultural and language skills • Create weekly, age-appropriate, cultural education and language lesson plans for parental approval in support of dual fluency • Using knowledge of culture conduct workshops and demonstrations to develop and evaluate the child's progress with respect to fluency in languages; monitor milestones and tailor lesson plans and activities accordingly. • Source, adapt, and develop teaching materials, activities, field trips, etc., that support basic reading, math, language and cultural enrichment activities detailed above. • Update parents regarding the child's progress against developmental goals • Transport child to and from various activities • Organize games, art, music, and field trips to foster overall development • Special Projects This position requires an Associate’s degree, fluency in both English and Afrikaans, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Petitioner is offering the wage of $35.50 per hour for this position; room and board is also included. Due to the temporary nature of the employment, no benefits are offered.
