Job Description

Full Time:
Yes
Number of Workers Requested:
38
Job Duties:
**RFI** The tasks, tools, and equipment used to load and unload materials. • Workers load and unload materials such as tools, concrete forming material including wood 2x4s, plywood and metal forms, form oil and scaffolding manually. In some cases, workers will manually move materials that are on the trailers so that heavier materials can be lifted to the ground and moved from the trailers by skidloaders. Workers will also use wheelbarrows and manual palletjacks to move bulky, awkward or heavier materials from vans and semi-trailers closer to the job site. - The tasks, tools, and equipment used to dig and level the earth. • All worksites that GBI works on are pre-excavated and therefore all substantial earth moving is already completed when GBI arrives. Our supervisors do ensure that the site is level with a laser and will instruct the workers to dig or dump with a hand-tools so that the earth is level and extra concrete is not wasted. The tools that the workers will use are used are pickaxes, shovels, rakes and stringlines, walk-behind plate packers and jumping-jack packers. - The tasks performed to strengthen concrete as well as the type of strengthening materials used. • The workers place prefabricated concrete bricks underneath the bottom mat of rebar for proper concrete placement. The workers will use a hand rebar bender to make rebar chairs to keep the top and bottom mats of concrete separate on thicker slabs of concrete. As needed, the workers will add water, concrete accelerants and manually place and tie rebar in the proper area prior to or concurrently with concrete placement. - The tasks performed to place concrete as well as the tools and equipment used. • Rebar pins would be placed by sledgehammers so that concrete is placed at the right elevation. Workers will hold the pump hose in proper position so that concrete is pumped to the right area. Workers will use concrete rakes to push wet concrete into the right spots at the right elevation. The rebar pins are then further pounded into the ground to conceal them under the wet concrete. Workers then use a vibrator to remove the air pockets from the concrete and help consolidate the concrete. Next, vibratory hand screeds and/or screed board are used to eliminate low and high areas. Finally, shovels are used to move concrete to the edges to eliminate low areas and ensure proper overall elevation. The workers will then clean all the above-mentioned tools and make sure that the finishing tools are in place for the finishers (separate job) to finish the concrete. **Original** Perform lesser tasks involving manual labor at concrete construction site. Prepare the site for placing of concrete by loading and unloading materials, digging and leveling the earth, placing strengthening materials in concrete, and lifting, carrying and setting concrete forms. Place concrete. Clean up waste materials.
