1. Types of structures and frameworks: raise, align and install steel rebars for concrete slab on grade, concrete walls & columns, concrete roof slabs. Raise align and install steel columns, beams, ladders and railings.
2. Tasks involved: reading installation shop drawings, measuring and bending rebars to the correct shape. Laying out guide lines, raising or lifting steel rebars, aligning in the correct location, installing fasteners, spacers, bolsters and rebar chairs. Working and guiding heavy equipment operators to lift heavy steel fabrication such as steel rebar assemblies, steel beams and columns to its correct location and alignment.
3. Tools include measuring tape, electric rebar cutters and benders, crow bars, sledge hammers, pliers, adjustable wrenches, bar levels, string lines, laser levels, leather gloves, etc.
4. Techniques. As much as possible pre-cut, fabricate and assemble steel structures on the ground, and with the assistance of heavy equipment such as cranes or forklifts, guide the lifting and installation the steel rebar, steel beams, steel columns in the designated locations. Smaller rebars or steel items may be assembled in place, or installed manually by Structural Iron and Steel Workers.
