- Duties: All duties take place on state and interstate highways. These include gathering and removing litter, mowing, and assisting with the installation of traffic signs and guardrails when needed. Tasks require the use of hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, and hedge or brush trimmers. Operate powered equipment such as mowers, electric clippers, or pruning saws, and other related Highway Maintenance Worker activities as per SOC/OES 47-4051 (onetonline.org).
