Job Description

Full Time:
Yes
Number of Workers Requested:
8
Job Duties:
**RFI Response** The laborers load and unload construction materials such as concrete mix, gravel, form panels, stakes, mesh sheets, rebar chairs, spacers, and hand tools. These tasks are performed manually by lifting, carrying, stacking, and positioning materials using only basic hand tools, including shovels, wheelbarrows, buckets, pry bars, and hand carts. Laborers do not operate forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers, or any other material-handling machinery. In preparing the earth for concrete placement, laborers dig and level small areas using shovels, rakes, hand tampers, and plate compactors. Their duties involve digging shallow trenches, removing loose soil, leveling subgrade material, and compacting base aggregate under supervision. Laborers do not operate trenchers, excavators, backhoes, or any powered digging equipment. With respect to strengthening concrete, the laborers’ involvement is strictly limited to incidental, non-skilled handling of reinforcement materials. Their tasks may include lifting, carrying, and placing light wire mesh sheets, rebar chairs, spacers, and similar materials as directed by a supervisor. To avoid any misunderstanding, the employer clarifies that laborers do not cut, bend, tie, secure, splice, fabricate, assemble, construct, or install rebar or rebar cages, nor do they perform layout or structural reinforcement. All cutting, bending, tying, fabrication, assembly, and installation of reinforcing steel is performed exclusively by separately qualified reinforcing ironworkers, not by Construction Laborers. The laborers’ limited handling of reinforcement materials is entirely consistent with SOC 47-2061 and does not fall within the scope of SOC 47-2171 Reinforcing Iron and Rebar Workers. When assisting with concrete placement, laborers use only basic hand tools such as wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and come-along tools to move and spread concrete. They may transport concrete to designated areas and help distribute it prior to finishing. Laborers do not operate power screeds, laser screeds, concrete pumps, ride-on trowels, or other powered finishing or placement equipment. All skilled concrete finishing is performed only by experienced concrete finishers. **Original** Residential and commercial concrete construction. Measure and layout footings and foundation. Excavate footings and level earth to grade specifications. Position aluminum wall forms and place all concrete. Clean up site.
