Workers assist with jobsite setup by unloading and staging shingles, underlayment, tools, and safety equipment; placing tarps and protective coverings; and setting up ladders, ladder stabilizers, roof brackets, and fall-protection systems. Workers help with tear-off by removing existing shingles, tiles, metal panels, underlayment, flashings, vents, and other components using roofing tear-off shovels, pry bars, nail pullers, hammers, and utility knives. During installation of shingles, tiles, or metal roofing systems, workers carry bundles or panels to the roof, stage materials, hand shingles, fasteners, and components to roofers, and assist with layout of starter strips and courses. Workers use tape measures, chalk lines, roofing nail guns, hammers, screw guns, and impact drivers as directed to support correct exposure, straight lines, and required fastening patterns per manufacturer specifications. Workers also assist with installation of flashings, drip edge, step flashing, vents, ridge vents, and pipe boots by cutting materials, handing components to roofers, and applying roofing cement or sealant with trowels or caulk guns as instructed. For low-slope systems, workers may help roll out membrane sheets, apply adhesive, press seams with hand rollers, and secure edge metal under supervision. Workers use standard roofing tools including roofing shovels, pry bars, hammers, utility knives, screw guns, impact drivers, chalk lines, tape measures, magnetic sweepers, trowels, caulk guns, and leaf blowers. Workers also use ladders, ladder hoists, scaffolding, roof brackets, and OSHA-compliant fall-protection equipment such as harnesses, lifelines, and lanyards, following all safety practices. Job duties include working with crew leaders and members to assist in completing all aspects of roofing jobs assigned by the company, including tear-off, repair, installation, and other jobs as assigned. Employees must be prepared to learn all aspects of the roofing jobs assigned.
