Load and unload building materials, machinery, or tools, and distribute to appropriate locations according to project plans or specifications. Clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials. Using a shovel or spade, assist foreman and heavy equipment operators to dig ditches or trenches to a width of 2'-15' and depth of 1’-25’ for the installation of piping and/or utility lines. Operate jackhammers or drills to break up concrete or pavement. Backfill excavations, compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes. Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts. Place, consolidate, or protect case-in-place concrete or masonry structures. Erect or dismantle scaffolding and set braces to support the side of excavations. Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces. Mix, pour, and spread concrete, using portable cement mixers. Assist in maintaining a proper supply of concrete, from large concrete trucks, so that operations remain constant (i.e., help to ensure the amount of wet concrete is adequate for the specific pouring project). As needed, assist with mixing, pouring, grading, distributing, and smoothing concrete. Smooth or finish freshly poured cement or concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered cement finishing tools. Perform basic maintenance to lubricate, clean, or perform minor repairs on machinery, equipment, or tools. Follow established safety procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and clean environment.
