***RFI Response 2*** Digging and leveling earth Workers dig and level earth manually using shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and measuring tapes. These tasks are performed to prepare and grade ground surfaces, move soil, level fill material, and shape surfaces in connection with range construction, repair, cleanup, and maintenance. Workers do not operate heavy equipment as part of this position. Construction, repair, and maintenance of earthen berms Workers assist with the construction, repair, and maintenance of earthen berms used for bullet containment by: moving and placing soil and berm material shaping and leveling berm surfaces raking berms repairing washed-out or uneven areas placing and securing wood or other simple support/barrier materials cleaning and maintaining berm areas during construction or repair projects The tools used for these tasks are shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, measuring tapes, hammers, saws, and drills. Shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows are used to move, spread, shape, and level soil or berm material. Measuring tapes are used to check placement and dimensions. Hammers, saws, and drills are used when assembling, cutting, fastening, or repairing simple wooden framing, supports, or barrier materials associated with berm structures or containment systems. ***RFI Response/Original F.a.2*** Workers perform manual labor at gun-range construction and maintenance sites, assisting with the construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance of shooting range infrastructure. Workers perform typical construction labor tasks including cleaning and preparing job sites, handling and moving materials, digging and leveling earth, and assisting with construction and repair activities using hand tools and simple power tools. Workers use hand tools and simple power tools in the following ways: • Hammers – used to assemble and secure wooden framing or structural supports used in berm structures and containment systems. • Measuring tapes – used to measure distances and ensure proper placement of materials during construction or repair of range berms and related structures. • Saws – used to cut lumber or other materials used in range structures or barriers. • Drills – used to fasten boards, barriers, and supports used in range construction projects. Work is performed at gun-range construction and maintenance sites where infrastructure is built, repaired, or maintained. These locations function as construction sites because workers perform tasks such as constructing or repairing earthen berms used for bullet containment, preparing and leveling ground surfaces, installing or repairing range structures or barriers, and performing job site cleanup. Workers perform manual labor in the construction, repair, and maintenance of earthen berms and related range infrastructure used for bullet containment. Gun ranges require routine site preparation and maintenance due to accumulation of spent bullets in berms and surrounding soil. Workers assist with these activities by raking berm surfaces to expose bullet fragments, collecting bullets from soil or berm material, sorting and bagging collected lead fragments in accordance with established safety procedures, and transporting materials using manual tools such as rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows. Workers may also remove worn or damaged range materials and perform cleanup and site preparation during renovation or repair projects. The Employer performs work at multiple gun-range construction and maintenance sites within the area of intended employment, and workers travel to these sites to perform construction labor tasks including site preparation, material handling, cleanup, and assistance with construction or repair activities.
