Job Duties:
***RFI response*** 1. Specific Tasks, Tools, Equipment, and Materials Used The phrase “Assist kitchen staff with various tasks” refers explicitly to routine support duties required to maintain an orderly, sanitary, and efficient kitchen environment. The specific tasks, along with the tools, equipment, and materials utilized by the Dishwasher, include: A. Dishwashing and Equipment Cleaning: Washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and specialized kitchen equipment. For this task, commercial dishwashing machines, three-compartment deep sinks, scrub brushes, sponges, dish racks, and chemical sanitizers/detergents are used. B. Kitchen Sanitation and Waste Management: Emptying and cleaning trash receptacles, disposing of kitchen garbage, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the kitchen floor and food service areas. For this task, trash cans, heavy-duty garbage bags, mops, buckets, brooms, and floor degreasers are used. C. Storage and Inventory Organization: Receiving cleaned dishware, utensils, and kitchen equipment from the washing area and transporting them safely to designated storage zones or kitchen prep lines to assist cooks and chefs. For this task, rolling utility carts, storage shelving, and organization racks are used. 2. Clarification on Food Preparation and Cooking Tasks The Employer explicitly clarifies that the Dishwasher position does not involve any cooking duties, nor does it entail independent or skilled food preparation. The assistance provided to the kitchen staff is purely supportive, low-skilled, and routine in nature. To the extent that a Dishwasher interacts with food items or assists the kitchen staff, it is limited to the following basic tasks: A. Clearing and Scraping: Scraping food scraps and residues from soiled plates, platters, and cooking vessels into garbage bins prior to washing. B. Basic Utility Assistance: Under the direct supervision of cooks, chefs, or food service managers, assisting with basic, routine utility tasks such as carrying bulk ingredients from storage or walk-in coolers to the prep area. They do not chop, season, cook, or plate food items. ***Original*** Wash dishes, utensils or kitchen equipment in storage area. Maintain kitchen area clean and orderly condition. Assist kitchen staff with various tasks.
