Job Duties:

Prepare, season, and cook dishes such as soups, meats, vegetables, or desserts in restaurants. Bake, grill, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods. May order supplies, keep records, participate in inventory counts. Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices. Portion, arrange, and garnish food. Serve food to waiters or patrons. Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock. Season and cook food according to recipes. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.

Special Requirements:

Requires three months of experience as a cook or similar food service role. Intermediate English speaking required. Must lift/carry 50 lbs., when necessary. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Employer-paid post-hire drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers upon suspicion of use. Work schedule will vary and will include evenings, holidays, and Saturdays and Sundays. Work may be performed on any day of the week from Monday through Sunday. Shift hours may vary. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
