Job Description

Full Time:
Yes
Number of Workers Requested:
25
Job Duties:
***RFI response*** Assembly Process A more in-depth description of the duties and functions of this job are as follows: a) Review pre-cut lumber to ensure lumber quality, flag wood-splitting, flag bad saw-cuts and flag any other quality control issue with the lumber. b) Arrange lumber on table pursuant to a specific pattern. A truss table with stoppers (auto-pucks) to ensure the proper truss configuration is used. The workers are provided gloves to prevent slivers, punctures and scratching. c) Fit lumber together snugly in the proper pattern prior to joining all the lumber components together. d) Ensure the proper type of nails and proper size truss plates are utilized. The proper nails and truss plates are provided to the workers and the workers are to double-check that the nails and the plates are the correct ones per design. The design is shown to the workers on an electronic screen. e) Ensure the plates and nails are put at the proper location in the proper amounts. The workers are provided electronic plans or maps on a TV-like screen that they can review and follow during the process. There are compressed nail guns, hoses, compressors, hammers, tool belts, hard hats, safety glasses and vests. f) Ensure that the lumber components are joined together properly with proper plate placement and no large gaps between components. g) Use the truss table roller gantry or gantry press as needed to ensure the truss components are flat and strong when joined together. h) Review entire truss for cracks, splitting or broken joints. i) Also review the final truss product to ensure that it meets the proper dimensions and configuration prior to shipment. Operate machinery and heavy equipment 1) Truss table roller gantry or gantry press. 2) A team of assemblers is responsible for the entire truss assembly process. This means that the team takes the different truss components and assembles them into a final truss product. Each team member must understand and be able to do each job in the assembly process. When there is a very large truss, or the truss wood is slightly twisted or is not taking the truss plates very well, the team assembler when needed, may operate a truss table roller gantry (or gantry press) which is a heavy-duty industrial machine used in truss manufacturing to embed metal connector plates into wood roof or floor trusses. With several safety stops and minimal employee risk, the gantry travels along the assembly table, using massive steel rollers to press plates on both sides of the joint. The worker only must press a single button to operate the truss table roller gantry or gantry press so minimal technical skill, experience or ability is required to operate the press. Because the workers rotate through the positions and since the truss table roller gantry is not used all the time, an individual team assembler would only use it intermittently. ***Original*** Work as part of a team to assemble roof and floor trusses or wall panels. Perform all tasks conducted by the team in the assembly process and rotate through multiple production lines. Perform quality checks during assembly. Operate machinery and heavy equipment. Clean work areas.
