Job Duties:
Sun Valley Ski Education Found (SVSEF), a competition and training program for winter sport programs (Alpine Ski Racing, Freeride, Cross-country, Snowboard, etc.), located in Ketchum, Idaho, seeks full-time, seasonal FIS Assistant Coaches to coach SVSEF FIS athletes during ski season (ends in the end of April). The FIS Assistant Coach will assist the FIS Head Coach to train FIS athletes during ski season, including driving the athletes to ski races. Detailed responsibilities include: General Responsibilities: • Assist the Head Coach(s) in successful implementation of the team plan in all areas. • Teach the art of skiing and ski racing with appropriate age-appropriate teaching methods. • Treat with respect all athletes, parents, coaches, SVSEF personnel. • Be professional, be punctual and well prepared for each day. • Innovative and takes action when something needs done – does not wait or need to be asked. • Is responsible and takes care of all team equipment. • Attends weekly team planning and coaches meetings • Work to ensure all team rules and philosophies are adhered to. • Present a professional and positive image of the team when interacting in the community on and off the job. • Performs other related duties as required. Specific Responsibilities: • Responsible for assisting in managing, guiding, and mentoring SVSEF FIS athletes. • Be consistent in messaging SVSEF FIS team athlete expectations with regard to attendance, work ethic, and sportsmanship. • To assist Head FIS coach(s) with intents, entries, and competition planning as needed. • To work with Western Region to maintain a solid relationship between the region and the SVSEF. • To assist head coaches with mid and end of season athlete evaluations as outlined by SVSEF. • Work closely and in coordination with SVSEF FIS Coaching Staff throughout the season. Bring issues and questions to leadership personnel as quickly as possible so resolution can be obtained and prevent misunderstandings or miscommunication from occurring. • Assist with the races conducted at Sun Valley Resort. • Assist athletes/parents in the selection, sizing and acquisition of equipment. • Video and video review • Placing video on Sprongo • Taking care of team equipment and notifying head coach if maintenance / replacement is needed • Wax room oversight and assisting athletes on the road • Responsible for looking after athletes on the road including but not limited to redirecting poor decision making, in rooms at appropriate time, following instructions, being safe and respectful etc. o Room checks while on the road. • Taking care of vans and other company vehicles and trailers while on the road • Ensure professional and efficient athlete and race management while on the road making sure SVSEF athletes are getting everything they need to perform well. • Engaging athletes regularly checking in with them on their well-being, goals, etc. Some of this formally most informally when the chance arrives. • FIS Coaches may have additional responsibilities due to team needs and personal skills / interests as per Head Coaches instructions. • FIS coaches should work together in close coordination with each other as a coaching staff making sure that all team needs are being fulfilled.

Special Requirements:
Current USSS Level 200 Certification or equivalent is required. Experience coaching FIS level athletes. Applicant must complete pre-employment background check and be able to provide at least two references for prior work experience. Be able to communicate in English. Can lift up to fifty pounds. Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
