Job Duties:
Perform general labor at worksite. Prepare grade for concrete, utility pipe installation, hand compaction of gravel materials in trench, grade checking with GPS or Laser, shoveling, operating remotely controlled equipment. Sort cargo before loading and unloading. Maintain and clean work areas to ensure a safe working environment. Workers will also be performing end-of-the-season tasks, i.e., cleaning debris from worksites, removing ice/snow from worksites, and performing cleaning, oiling, and maintenance of equipment in preparation for storage. Workers will prepare grade for concrete placement by measuring, marking, leveling, and grading work areas. Specific tasks include spreading, raking, and leveling soil, gravel, sand, and aggregate materials; removing excess material; compacting subgrade surfaces; and checking elevations to ensure proper slope and grade prior to concrete placement. In performing these duties, workers will use shovels, rakes, grading bars, picks, hand tampers, plate compactors, laser levels, GPS grade-control devices, measuring tapes, string lines, and marking paint and will work with materials including soil, gravel, sand, aggregate base, and concrete forms. Workers will assist with underground utility pipe installation by placing bedding material in trenches, positioning and aligning pipe sections, installing fittings and couplings, backfilling trenches, and compacting fill material around installed pipe. Workers will also place, spread, and compact gravel, sand, and soil materials in trenches and around utility installations. In performing these duties, workers will use shovels, rakes, hand tampers, plate compactors, pipe lasers, measuring tapes, levels, pipe slings, jumping-jack compactors, and hand tools used to connect and secure pipe sections, and will work with materials including. PVC, HDPE, concrete, and metal pipe; fittings and couplings; gravel, sand, bedding materials, and backfill materials. Workers may operate remotely controlled trench rollers and plate compactors. Using remote-control units, workers will maneuver equipment to compact soil, gravel, and backfill materials in trenches, around utility lines, and in confined or hazardous work areas. Specific duties include starting and stopping equipment, controlling movement and compaction patterns, monitor equipment performance, and ensure proper compaction of materials to project specifications. Workers will assist with the installation of underground utility Domestic Water Service Pipes, Sanitary Sewer Pipes, and Storm Drainpipes.

Special Requirements:
Six (6) months of construction labor experience. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs frequently. Must pass an employer-paid post-accident drug test. The workers will be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion, paid by the employer and applied equally to all workers, U.S. and foreign/H-2B. Post-accident, the worker must pass an employer-paid post-accident drug test.
