Job Duties:

Classy Cajun Oyster Farm LLC seeks forty (40) temporary full-time Seasonal Oyster Plant Workers to work in the employer's oyster processing facility located at 6888 Grand Caillou Road, Dulac, Louisiana 70353, Terrebonne Parish. Employment is temporary and will begin on October 1, 2026, through June 1, 2027. Employees will work 40 hours per week, with no overtime anticipated, and will be paid weekly. Duties: Workers will unload oysters from delivery vessels or containers and place them onto processing tables, conveyor systems, or mechanical shaking tables for processing. Workers will wash oysters using clean water to remove sediment and debris, then inspect, sort, grade, and separate oysters by size and quality, either manually or with basic grading equipment. Depending upon production needs, workers will process whole oysters or manually shuck oysters using oyster shucking knives while wearing cut-resistant gloves or hand guards, carefully removing the oyster meat, ensuring all shell fragments are removed, and that the product meets required quality control and food safety standards. Processed oyster meat or whole oysters will be placed into clean food-grade containers for weighing, grading, labeling, icing, and packing according to customer specifications and applicable food safety requirements. Packed ice boxes will be prepared for storage or loading onto refrigerated trucks for delivery to restaurants, wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers, and other commercial customers. Workers will maintain the cleanliness and organization of their immediate work areas during production, including the proper handling and storage of tools, knives, containers, materials, and equipment, while following all food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures. Facility-wide cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting before and after production shifts is performed by a contracted cleaning service. Workers may rotate among assigned duties throughout the workday based upon production needs. Tools and equipment used may include, but are not limited to, oyster shucking knives, cut-resistant gloves or hand guards, processing tables, mechanical shaking tables, conveyor systems, sorting trays, weighing scales, plastic food-grade containers, ice machines, labeling equipment, and other processing tools. Employer-provided personal protective equipment, including waterproof aprons, rubber boots, hairnets, gloves, and other required food safety attire, must be worn at all times. Work is performed indoors in a cold and wet seafood processing environment. The employer will provide transportation at no cost to workers who do not reside in employer-arranged lodging from the central pickup location at 222 Mark Street, Chauvin, Louisiana 70344, to the processing facility located at 6888 Grand Caillou Road, Dulac, Louisiana 70353, with return transportation provided at the end of each workday. The employer will also provide transportation at no cost to workers residing in employer-arranged lodging between the lodging location and the worksite. Public transportation is available to the central pickup location.

Special Requirements:

Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) months of work-related experience in seafood or similar food processing environments. No formal education is required. Workers must be able to perform work duties while standing for extended periods in a cold and wet indoor seafood processing environment and perform repetitive manual tasks. Workers must be willing to work rotating shifts, including Monday through Friday shifts of 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., or 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and Saturday shifts of 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This is a seasonal, full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week. No overtime is available.
