Job Duties:
***RFI Response*** Rebuilding manhole benches, inverts, and flow channels: Workers travel to the manhole, remove the cover with a manhole hook, and set up a tripod and ladder for safe entry. Inside the manhole, they remove deteriorated concrete, brick, and debris using hammers, chisels, scrapers, pry bars, and shovels, then clean the surfaces with a high-pressure water hose or pressure washer. Workers mix cement mortar in buckets and apply it with trowels and floats to rebuild benches, inverts, and flow channels. Bricks or concrete repair materials are installed as needed, followed by inspection and site restoration. Tools/Equipment: Manhole hooks, tripod, ladder, hammers, chisels, scrapers, pry bars, shovels, buckets, mixing tools, trowels, floats, pressure washer/high-pressure hose, gas monitor, and PPE. Materials: Cement mortar, water, bricks (as needed), concrete repair materials, and grout (as needed). 2. Operating sewer flow-through plugs and diversion tools: The laborer retrieves flow-through sewer plugs from the work trailer, inspects them for damage, installs protective sleeves, and transports them to the manhole. The worker assists the foreman by handing the plug into the manhole and, after the work is completed, helps remove, clean, and store the equipment. Tools/Equipment: Flow-through sewer plugs, protective sleeves, work trailer, and PPE. Materials: None. 3. Using sandblasting equipment, grinders, and concrete spray rigs: Workers assist in preparing sewer pipes and manholes by removing corrosion, deteriorated coatings, loose concrete, and debris. The laborer retrieves sandblasting equipment, hoses, compressors, and related tools, connects the equipment, and loads the abrasive media. The worker assists the certified sandblaster by supplying materials, monitoring hoses, and repositioning equipment. When required, the laborer uses handheld grinders to remove surface irregularities. The worker also assists with concrete spray rigs by transporting cementitious or geopolymer materials, mixing and loading materials, connecting hoses, cleaning equipment, and assisting the nozzle operator during the application of liners, coatings, and rehabilitation products. Tools/Equipment: Sandblasting equipment, compressors, abrasive media, handheld grinders, concrete spray rigs, mixers, hoses, generators, buckets, shovels, trowels, and PPE. Materials: Abrasive blasting media (grit), cementitious mortar, geopolymer materials, and water. ***Original F.a.2*** Perform tasks involving the maintenance and structural rehabilitation of underground stormwater and sanitary sewer infrastructure. Duties include: Entering confined spaces such as manholes and underground utility structures. Using high-pressure water systems for cleaning and profiling surfaces (e.g., hydro blasting, pressure washing). Sealing and stopping infiltration through cracks, seams, and pipe connections using grout and sealant products. Spraying and troweling cementitious and epoxy coatings to restore structural integrity. Installing frame seal systems, adjusting or replacing manhole rings, frames, and covers. Rebuilding manhole benches, inverts, and flow channels. Operating sewer flow-through plugs and diversion tools. Using sandblasting equipment, grinders, and concrete spray rigs. Performing general physical labor including lifting materials, preparing worksites, and cleaning up debris. Following all OSHA safety protocols and company procedures for confined space entry, personal protective equipment (PPE), and equipment handling.
