Job Duties:

***RFI Response*** The worker will assist the asphalt paving crew by installing hot mix asphalt on roads, parking lots, driveways, and other paved surfaces. Specific duties include transporting hot mix asphalt from delivery trucks to the work area using wheelbarrows; spreading and leveling asphalt with shovels, rakes, and lutes; assisting crew members in maintaining proper asphalt depth and grade; assisting with asphalt compaction by operating hand tamps and supporting crew members operating plate compactors; cleaning excess material from work areas; and assisting crew members with general paving operations. The worker will use hand tools and equipment including shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, lutes, hand tamps. Materials used include hot mix asphalt and related paving materials. ***Original Duties*** The Paving Crew Laborer will be primarily responsible for shoveling and raking asphalt and general labor related to asphalt construction. Specific duties include: Compliance with safety rules and work in a safe manner. Assist asphalt paving crew in installing hot mix asphalt to the specifications required by the job. Adhere to quality standards. Assist with routine daily maintenance and clean-up. Must be able to lift and carry heavy loads, step up and down, and perform manual labor tasks.
