Job Duties:

Prepare, serve, and feed nutritionally balanced snacks and meals for one toddler and one preschooler. Put children down for naps and regulate children’s rest periods and nap schedules. Dress or assist children with dressing. Engage with children in age-appropriate activities, such as structured play, reading, and arts and crafts, and outdoor activities to encourage intellectual development of children. Meet regularly with parents to discuss children's activities and development. Work with parents to implement discipline programs to promote desirable child behavior. Instruct and assist children in the development of health and personal habits, such as eating, brushing teeth, and toilet behavior. Model appropriate social behaviors and encourage concern for others to cultivate development of interpersonal relationships and communication skills. Monitor appropriate chores and praise targeted behaviors to encourage development of self-control, self-confidence, and responsibility. Remove hazards and develop appropriate boundaries and rules to create a safe environment for children. Perform first aid when required. Observe children's behavior for irregularities, take temperature, or administer medications, as directed, to maintain children's health. Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties related to children's care. Transport children to activities, social outings, and medical appointments. Shop for groceries, clothing, and other items needed for children's care. All duties will be performed in a private household environment. The worksite for this job opportunity is the family home, with errands and outings in or within regular commuting distance of the same Metropolitan Statistical Area as the worksite. Optional occasional domestic travel possible on trips up to 10 days, no more than twice annually. Medications administered are limited to pediatric over-the-counter and physician-prescribed oral and topical medications in the form of liquids, tablets, pills, and topical creams or ointments. Worker measures liquid doses; assists child in taking medication orally; applies topical medications to the skin; records and reports doses to parents; and stores medication safely, according to parent or physician instructions regarding medication type, modality, dosage, and schedule. Worker does not select medications, determine dosages, or administer injections.

Special Requirements:

Minimum of 24 months of experience as a nanny or childcare worker. Basic English skills. Must be able to lift and carry weights sufficient to move equipment and material necessary to complete assigned tasks. Ability to stand throughout the shifts. Ability to physically engage in active play with children. Use of kitchen appliances, laundry machines, and the household automobile. 40 hours per week, 8-hour regular shifts, 5 days per week. Typical shift schedule Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 6 pm. Schedule may vary and can include evenings, weekends, or holidays, as needed. Employer will rely on the worker's own representations and observations of the worker to assess if the worker meets the lifting, standing, and other physical ability requirements stated herein.
