Used to cut concrete slabs, sidewalks, driveways, roads, control joints, utility trenches, and repair areas requiring straight, deep cuts. Used for digging, trenching, grading, backfilling, site preparation, drainage work, utility installation, and small-scale demolition. The worker measures reinforcing steel (rebar) using a tape measure and marks the required lengths according to project specifications. Rebar is cut using manual or hydraulic rebar cutters and, when necessary, bent using manual or mechanical rebar benders to achieve the required shape. The worker positions reinforcing steel according to project layouts, ties intersecting bars using tie wire and rebar-tying pliers, verifies proper alignment, spacing, and support before concrete placement, and installs rebar chairs and spacers to maintain proper reinforcement placement. The worker may also lift, carry, and place reinforcing steel and reinforcing materials as part of general construction labor duties. Tools, equipment, and materials used to cut and install rebar include tape measures, chalk lines or marking tools, manual or hydraulic rebar cutters, manual or mechanical rebar benders, rebar-tying pliers or tying tools, tie wire, rebar chairs, spacers, levels, and required personal protective equipment. ***Original Duties*** Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites. May operate hand and power tools of all types: Tape measurement, hammer, level, float, concrete groover, pliers, shovel concrete placer, wire reel, electric circular saw, hand drill, impact drill, concrete saw (different sizes), concrete vibrator, grinder, plate compactor, jumping jack, skid steer, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
