- Job Duties:
- Snowmakers are responsible for preparation and operation of snowmaking systems. Set up and break down and perform routine maintenance of snowmaking equipment including snow guns, hoses, hydrants, and shovels. Prior to making snow, prepare surfaces for snowmaking and other snow activities by using landscaping tools to clear brush under chair lift corridors and in other areas. Monitor quality of snow and make adjustments as needed, recognize and communicate hazards within the snowmaking system. Safely operate snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles on difficult uneven terrain. Grade and prepare snow surfaces for snow sports and transportation by operating snow grooming vehicles. Safely operate snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles on sometimes difficult uneven terrain to travel from area to area on the ski hill. Develop an understanding of mountain layout and snowmobile routes. Following snow events, sometimes daily when needed to keep operations running, remove snow or ice from walking pathways adjacent to guest and employee areas using sand/salt and/or handheld tools such as shovels and snow/ice scrapers.
