Job Duties:

Help maintenance and repair workers with maintenance, parts replacement, and repair of vehicle fleet and lawn and snow equipment. Furnish tools, materials, and supplies to maintenance workers, clean work area, machines, and tools. Organize shop supplies. The vehicles and equipment referenced above include pick-up trucks, landscaping trailers (utility and enclosed trailers); lawn mowers (walk-behind, stand-on, and zero-turn); string trimmers; hedge trimmers; leaf blowers; chainsaws; snow blowers and plows; snow ATVs; salt boxes; mulch mules, and other similar landscaping and snow removal equipment. The employee assists maintenance and repair workers by performing routine preventative maintenance on all vehicle fleet, trailers, lawn and snow equipment and cleaning to remove dirt, grass, mud, and debris. Assist with preparing lawn equipment for winter storage by performing routine maintenance such as replacing belts, spark plugs, filters, sharpening or changing blades; apply grease with grease guns to lubricate equipment as needed. Install and remove winter and summer tires as required; fill air in tires as needed. Assist with mounting and removing snowplows and salt spreaders, and stocking vehicles with needed supplies. Organize shop supplies, retrieve parts and tools for maintenance and repair workers, clean vehicles, equipment, work areas, and tools. Tools and materials used include hand tools, such as socket and wrench sets, screwdrivers, pliers, impact wrenches, floor jacks, air compressors, grease guns, replacement belts, spark plugs, filters, blades, lubricants, cleaning supplies, replacement parts, power washers, and similar shop items. Maintenance helpers will not perform any work on diesel engines.
