Job Duties:
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. The agricultural job includes duties associated with harvesting tomatoes, peppers, and de-tasseling/rogueing corn. It also includes making decisions based on size, color, and maturity in accordance with prescribed standards. Workers must be careful when carrying out their work duties on the farm and be aware of not damaging vegetables. Workers must comply with all safety rules according to the instructions of their supervisors and all agricultural work operations must comply with the standards and specifications given by the employer. They will be responsible for the classification in the field and the discarding of bad quality, rotten, and/or over-ripe products. Workers will gently load the good quality products into containers, taking care to avoid damage or bruises. De-tassel Seed Corn: Must be able to walk miles per day while pulling all tassels from plants within the designated female rows, including tassels on tiller/sucker plants. Tassels will be pulled as they emerge and before shedding pollen. Rogueing activities will also be performed. Workers will use a shovel to cut stalk at the root and remove all rogues or off type plants that has grown incorrectly or is defective from within and between seed cornrows. Tomatoes: Workers are assigned a row or series of rows and are required to select and choose products according to criteria described and demonstrated by managers, such as size, color, and maturity. They will be responsible for the leveling and discarding of the table of poor-quality products, rotten, or over mature. Workers can carry a full container that weighs approximately (50) fifty pounds and load them into a field container or load them into a trailer. Peppers: Workers will be assigned a row or series of rows and will be required to bend over and lean to select and pick products according to criteria described and demonstrated by managers, such as size, color, and maturity, and place them in field containers. Workers will be required to stack containers in trucks and unload. General Maintenance: The workers will be responsible for the general maintenance of the garden. They will remove debris from the ground like sticks, hoses, stones, straw, etc. They will be responsible for the elimination of old and unproductive trees and plants. They should take care not to damage or destroy other trees and plants or properties in the area. Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules & ability to follow supervisor instructions.

Applicants must be 18 years or older. Employer may conduct criminal background checks on all new applicants for employment at employers expense. Perform prolonged bending, reaching, and lifting 5-50lbs. This work requires adherence to important standard operating procedures of food safety and quality. Also, adhere to other similar sanitary facilities practices as part of SOPs and SSOPs within Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). Good Handling Practices (GHP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for Food Safety. Workers may be offered more than the standard 7 hours of work in a single workday. Workers may volunteer to work additional hours and hours on Sundays when work is available. Hours or work may increase/decrease depending on crop yield and/or weather and can occur at any time throughout the season. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, and lift.
