The Department of Labor recently announced new minimum wage rates, called Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWRs), that employers must offer and pay, at the time work is performed, to nonimmigrant H-2A workers and workers in corresponding employment beginning on the effective date of the new wage rates. Job Duties:
This job requires a minimum of three (3) months of general farm labor experience. The lifting requirement for this position is 60 pounds. Asumendi Produce is a fixed-site employer who grows, harvests and packs onions. Forklift Driver, Packing shed/facility (preparing freshly harvested crops for shipment in their original, unmanufactured state - sorting, palletizing & prepare for shipping. Forklift/Hyster Driver Specifications: The Forklift driver is responsible for inspecting the forklift. Forklift drivers use knobs and levers to operate the forklift. Duties include the moving and stacking bins, transferring and stacking of bins full of product onto the trailer. Packing shed tasks also include: Sorting onions, removing debris and cull onions. Hanging empty bags on bag filling machines, lifting and stacking full bags and re-stocking packaging materials. Onion Stacker: Will stack onion bags up to 60 pounds on pallets for shipping in an onion packing shed. Workers will stand for long periods on hard, concrete surfaces. Workers will be required to clean packing shed and storage shed daily after each packing shift. Daily individual work assignments may vary and will be made as to harvest schedule and the needs of the onion shed operation dictate. Employees must stand, sit, crouch, bend, reach and lift and carry items weighing u pto 60 lbs in the course of performing required activities. The anticipated hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of these crops, weather, and the requirement to send crops to customers when needed, it is the prevailing practice to work more or different hours than those listed. A worker may be offered more than the specified hours of work, however the worker will not be required to work for more than the number of hours specified in the job order, or on the worker’s Sabbath or Federal holidays. Saturday work may be required.
