Nursery Stock - Trees, Shrubs, Perennials..
Plant, harvest, nursery stock, including, but not limited to, trees, shrubs, and perennials with machines and manual methods. Prepare trees for digging by tying or wrapping as necessary. Hand dig trees with shovel or tree spade. Unloading and loading of plants, pulling weeds, wrapping plants, trimming, and loading of plants only in the field. Products must be handled carefully to prevent damage.
Mow, cut, and manually weed fields and canning yard. Perform shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Bending, stooping and kneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Assist with farm field maintenance and repairs.
If able to demonstrate competency, may operate power equipment including but not limited to: bobcats, farm trucks, or other motorized or mechanical equipment. Must operate agricultural equipment safely, with or without direction.
Work is done in the field for long periods of time. Workers may assist in identifying plants while loading field or delivery trucks including products weighing 70 pounds and lifting no more than 5 feet on to trucks or trailers. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Work required in fields when plants are wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Workers may be exposed to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day, working in the fields. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from 20 to over 100 degrees F. Rare exceptions will require us to ask workers to voluntarily work outside in temperatures that exceed the range listed above. Workers may be required to work during occasional rain or snow not severe enough to stop field operations. Must be able to tolerate seasonal weather conditions in Wisconsin. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Workers should be able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations.
Workers may not report to work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor may they use alcohol or drugs during the work day. Only moderate responsible alcohol consumption is allowed in company housing during non-working hours, and possession or use of illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia on the employer's property is strictly prohibited and cause for immediate termination.
Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer.
Employer reserves the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able but is unwilling to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product, or for any other lawful reason. .
The employer may discipline the worker, including brief suspension of work activities/employment “time out” for a set period determined by the supervisor or termination of employment as described in the Work Rules.
Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break.
TERMINATION. All workers will be subject to a five-day trial period, during which the employer will evaluate workers' performance of required tasks.
