Job Duties:
This job requires 3 months of Oyster Picking / Planting by the worker. Crops: Oysters. These crops listed may or may not be planted and employer is not limited to only these crops listed Oyster Planter/ Picker: Picking can take place during any type of weather and any time of the day or night. Some shellfish beds are reached by walking across the mudflats while others are reached by a crew boat. Picking oysters is physical, constant repetitive motion, manual labor which involves hand picking live oysters off the tide flats into baskets and dumping them into a container. The average bushel of oysters weighs 40 to 60 pounds, the average oyster picker can pick anywhere from 100 to 200 bushels/day in a tide depending on individual effort and tide duration. A tide can last anywhere from 1 to 5 hours. Although the main function of an oyster picker is to pick oysters, this job may require any and all labor associated with farming activities such as but by all means not limited to: planting, digging, maintenance, clean up, bed preparation, washing, packing, record keeping, grounds maintenance, bagging shell, loading and emptying tanks with bags of shell, etc. Many of these tasks require lifting and moving 30 to 60 pounds in a constant repetitive motion as is the case with many agricultural activities. It is the worker's responsibility to stay in contact with the oyster crew boss to know the work schedule and location.The main function of this job opportunity is to assist in planting and harvesting oysters. Additional job duties may require workers to assist with farm vessel operations. Equipment operation can take place during any type of weather and during any time of the day or night. Those on deck must demonstrate an ability to work safely in a marine environment while loading and unloading boats. Workers will be expected to perform manual labor including transferring oysters, moving tubs, offloading substrate, etc. Workers will be expected to perform maintenance and repairs, monitor for safety issues, clean all areas of vessel, and any other duty normal to deckhand work. It is the worker's responsibility to stay in contact with his or her supervisor to know the work schedule and locations. Workers are responsible for separating the oyster meats from the shell with shucking knife without damaging the meats and bring them to the counting station. The worker will be required to shuck oyster meats in a safe, clean manner and is required to pay attention to the quality and sanitation of the commodity shucked. Workers should be able to sustain high energy activities for extended periods of time, handle stress and remain cool under pressure. Workers can be standing for extended periods of time. Workers will need to take ownership of own work and willing to be held accountable for own actions. Workers must meet the minimum standard of picking 30 bushels of oysters per hour under normal harvest conditions and fill 2 gallons per hour when processing the oysters. Workers that are unable to meet this standard will be provided training in accordance with Employer's progressive discipline standards, including verbal instruction, written warnings, time off, or other coaching or instruction to teach the Worker to work more efficiently. If performance does not improve after coaching and several warnings, the Worker may be terminated

Worker must possess 3 months of oyster picking/planting experience. 4e) Must be able to lift and/or load 60lbs. 4f) Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. 4g) May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, wheelbarrows, etc. 4h) May require worker to sit and/or walk for extensive periods of time while sorting, picking, examining, transporting, etc. 4i) Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor such as picking, removing debris, etc. 4j) There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the farm labor duties, for example picking, etc. See Addendum C
