Job Duties:
Crops/Commodities: logging. Jobs are in a logging operation associated with felling and moving trees and logs from the stump to the point of delivery, such as, but not limited to, marking danger trees, marking trees or logs to be cut to length, felling, limbing, bucking, debarking, chipping, yarding, loading, unloading, storing, and transporting machines, equipment and personnel to, from, and between logging sites. Also, must be able to operate farming equipment such as barko machine, skidders, post whole pounder, tractors for tedding, raking & baling hay and other various farming equipment to manage employer owned farmlands, when logging duties are not available. Clean/inspect equipment and perform necessary basic maintenance/repair tasks. Build/repair fences, as needed. Manage timber. Survey woods/forest, to determine what trees are available. Cut dying and suppressed trees so better quality trees can grow, put temporary roadways (i.e. bridges(pallets over a culvert). Pull trees out of the woods to landing sites. Use a mechanized harvester to cut tree. Manual cutting at times needed,when machine is not available. Mow, cut, and weed fields. Prepare and/or clear land using mechanized or hand equipment to remove trash, rocks, or other debris or material that may interfere with tree removal activities. Level land by moving dirt and other materials. Equipment may include tractors, dozers, excavators, mowers, plows, sprayers, cultivators, power shears, chainsaws, bobcats, skid loaders, high lifts, and trucks or other vehicles. Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery. Clean, adjust, repair, and perform routine service on equipment (e.g., lubricating grease points, inspecting and maintaining fluid levels, checking belt and conveyor tensions, and maintaining tires, wheels, bearings, belts, and other wear parts). Repair or replace defective parts. Attach farm implements (e.g., plows, harrows, discs, sprayers) using hand tools. Install/maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Move and install irrigation pipes and equipment. Dig and maintain ditches. Install and remove levee gates. May install and maintain gravel driveways/landing sites on the farm or in the woods/forest, which are needed to access the logs. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer's products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Must wear steel toe boots. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or other durable foot wear. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not be permitted to start work. Outdoor work required when ground is wet, or during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours may vary. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Work is done outdoors for long periods of time and requires prolonged periods of standing and/or walking, repetitive movements, and frequent bending and/or stooping. Workers must be able to handle, lift, and carry heavy or bulky objects (product, containers) in accordance with the specified lifting requirements. Workers with a clean driving record (no major moving violations such as but not limited to Driving While Intoxicated or Reckless Driving) and able to obtain an insurable driver's license may drive company vehicles. Workers with appropriate licenses and a valid doctor's certificate may transport other workers. Supervisor(s) will provide instructions and directions to workers.

Special Requirements:
This job requires a minimum of 6 months of verifiable experience operating agricultural equipment, such as excavators and tractors, preferably in a logging or forestry operation. Applicants must be able to furnish verifiable job reference(s) or comparable third party documentation from recent employer(s) establishing acceptable prior experience. Saturday work required. Must be able to lift/carry 100 lbs. Workers with clean driving record and/or insurable driver's license may be required to drive company vehicles.
