Job Duties:
Field/Bathroom Monitor and CalVan Driver to perform the following duties: All work is performed in the field on the farm: Field/Bathroom monitor: Worker cleans, pressure washes, and moves restrooms on farms/fields as needed under the direction of the field supervisor. Worker is responsible for ensuring bathroom is properly stocked, and sanitized daily. Worker is responsible to maintain harvest/bathroom area clean and free of debris, following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP’s). Worker to maintain paperwork/logs detailing employees used bathrooms in a hygienic manner, following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP’s). Worker to report directly to supervisor any area of concern due to debris in harvesting area and/or improper use of bathroom facilities. Worker is to observe and monitor field being harvested for unusual animal activity, following Food Safety Guidelines and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP’s), is to report any finding to the field supervisor. CalVan Driver Specifications: 1. Driver may drive over the road in passenger vans with a GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) capacity of more than 26,000 pounds. 2. Driver will drive designated vans to transport harvest crew workers to and from housing and worksite locations. 3. Driver will be responsible for filling van with fuel and keeping vehicle clean. 4. Driver will be required to complete and process periodic driving reports as required by state laws. 5. Driver will be required to follow all California traffic laws and if applicable, vanpool rules. 6. Drivers must possess a valid authorized driver’s license and must be able to pass DOT (Department of Transportation) recognized medical exam and fulfill all other DOT requirements. 7. The employee will be responsible for the cost of the driver’s license. CalVans performs the medical exam at no cost to the employee or employer. The employer will be responsible for the cost of the registration as an FLCE driver (if any). Drivers are compensated for these activities. All employees in this position (H-2A as well as corresponding domestic workers), will be given the opportunity to obtain a driver’s license or commercial driver’s license (DL or CDL) and register as an FLCE driver on a voluntary basis. The DL or CDL and FLCE Certificate are not a pre-hire job requirement. No job applicant will be denied an employment opportunity due to a lack of a DL, CDL or FLCE Certificate at the time of application and/or hiring. Further, no worker (H-2A or corresponding domestic worker) will be terminated for failure to obtain a DL, CDL or FLCE Certificate. CalVan drivers may be H-2A or corresponding domestic workers. The employer assures that employees who drive the Carpools and CalVans are compensated for their time driving. Drivers perform MSPA and related paperwork (i.e., logging) as required by law which they are compensated for. The Van driving job duty is not a different job and when not driving, they will be performing field/bathroom monitor job duties. Drivers pick up workers from the housing sites/pick up points and drop them off at the worksite. At the end of the workday, the driver takes the workers back to the housing sites/pick up points. Drivers are also responsible, during the workday, for filling the vehicle with gasoline and keeping it clean. The employer assures that drivers are paid the AEWR for actual driving time and to the extent applicable, processing paperwork, trips to the gas station, and cleaning the vehicle.

Special Requirements:
One-month experience in field work is required. Must have use of both hands. Specific requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and able to use hand tools, including cutting knives. Must be able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc. Work involves frequent bending and working in bent or stooped positions. Must be able to walk and stand up extensively. No smoking, illegal drugs, alcohol, or weapon of any sort in the field or residential housing. Ability to communicate in English or Spanish is required for training and safety purposes. Workers must be able to listen, understand and follow instructions of company supervisors and managers.
