Job Duties:
Row Crops: Plant, grow, and harvest crops: Duties will include, but are not limited to: Workers may drive and operate farm machinery; plant, cultivate, and store grain plants such as: wheat, flakes, rye, and corn, etc.; Hold farm utensil such as: plow, disc, and tractor drill and drive tractor in field to land and plant/grow plants. Perform a variety of other tasks such as: shucking corn, lubricating and repairing farm equipment, and loading grain onto equipment into storage bins and elevators. Participate in harvest product sale system. Equine – Stable Attendant Workers will perform all job duties according to the instruction and supervision of the farm manger, horse trainers, riders and senior staff. Extremely specific instructions may be given regarding care for particular horses, sometimes on a daily basis. Assist in breeding and foaling of mares. Assist with post-pregnancy treatment of mares and neonatal care of foals. Work with foals/yearlings, including brushing, leading, picking up feet, petting. Assist in handling young horses in preparation for sales, including, preparing stall and sale grounds; setting up feed and hay storage, and supply room, setting up bathing and grooming stations; walking yearlings for exercise. Identify and catch horses in stalls and fields, affix halters and lead ropes, lead into barn and tie securely and tum back out. Competence in basic grooming practices including bathing, brushing, hoof care, clipping. Clean stalls by removing soiled bedding and manure, replace with fresh bedding. Strip stalls and disinfect floors, walls and surrounding areas for broodmares. Sweep barn aisles, stall areas, ceilings to remove dirt, hay, cobwebs and other duties. Maintain/clean and fill water troughs and buckets. Handle basic feeding activities including apportioning grain, hay and feed supplements according to instruction. Observe and identify sick or injured horses. Assist farrier in trimming feet and shoeing horses. Hold horses for farriers and veterinarians. Planting, Growing and Harvesting (Fruits/Vegetables): Duties include but are not limited to: Workers may be required to operate farm machinery to plant, grow, harvest and store vegetables. Connect farm implements such as plow, disc, and drill to the tractor and operate the tractor to remove soil in the fields and plant/cultivate the crop. Perform a variety of other duties such as lubricating and repairing farm machinery. You can plan and schedule plowing, cultivating/harvesting operations. Plant, grow and harvest and pack vegetables (in boxes, jars and crates). Putting the plastic, placing the plants, removing weeds (with a hoe or by hand), inserting stakes, grading and selecting, and activities related to vegetable production. Assist in placing harvest products for sale. Alternative Work; General farm maintenance and other duties as required in the farming operation maintenance. Includes, but not limited to, preparing barns, draining fields, preparing land for planting, maintenance of tools & equipment, and other work as directly related to the crop activities for which the worker is hired. Also includes fixing, clearing, and painting of fences / barns. Such work will be offered when climate or crop conditions preclude working in the primary activities listed above and only after the first week guarantee is met.

Physically able to bend, stoop, and able to stand on feet for long periods of time. Physically able to meet and perform all job specifications. May be required to take random drug and / or alcohol tests, at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. All testing and background check will occur after employment has started and is not a part of the interview process. May be required to submit a criminal background check, at no cost to the worker. Felony convictions that employer reasonably believes, consistent with current law, will impair the safety and living conditions of other workers or other individuals on the farm will result in immediate termination. Failure to comply with request for criminal background check may result in immediate termination of employment.
