Workers will help prepare tobacco to be placed in barns and with loading and unloading tobacco barns. Cut and lay plants on ground, pick up plants (2-3 each), hand plants to spearer, spear plants onto lath, load into wagon. Workers will handle and hang tobacco leaves for drying. Pass lath progressively upward in barn and hang lath onto poles, standing at considerable height. After curing, take down tobacco and strip/bundle leaves for market. When tobacco is removed from the curing board, workers will be expected to assist each other by placing tobacco on sheets to be bound in bundles and loaded in trucks for transport. Take care to prevent damaging plants at all stages to ensure wrapper-quality product. Work requires working on rails in barns/curing structures, which are 48 inches apart and from 6 feet to 20 feet above the ground. Workers must have no fear of working from heights. Work may also include mechanized field work using power equipment. By way of example and not limitation power equipment may include tractors, planters, sprayers, cultivators and other farm and packing house equipment. Work is to be done in the field for long periods of time. Workers are expected to perform duties including weighing and loading of product. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Workers may not smoke or use tobacco products while performing any job associated with handling tobacco. Workers found using tobacco while handling plants or performing any job associated with handling tobacco, will be terminated immediately. This rule will be aggressively enforced out of concern for the spread of tobacco mosaic and other diseases and contamination of tobacco. Persons seeking employment as experienced tobacco farm worker must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Prior to any termination for cause, employer evaluates workers' performance of required tasks and compliance with Work Rules and other employer policies. Employer may terminate a worker for cause if the worker's performance consistently and/or substantially fails to satisfy the employer's reasonable expectations (in accordance with the criteria set forth herein), or otherwise engages in serious or egregious misconduct that endangers health, safety, or property. In assessing whether workers' performance meets reasonable expectations, employer evaluates, among other reasonable criteria, whether the worker: (1) has adequately complied with the Work Rules and any other policies or procedures; (2) has complied with all health and safety guidelines, including the use of tools or equipment in accordance with best practices to protect the employer's property, crops, and in a manner that avoids injury or damage; (3) has treated company property (tools, equipment, crops, fixtures, etc.),
