- Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor.
Corn Hand Harvesting Hand picking corn, bundling harvest bags, loading dryer boxes, placing bundles of harvested material from the fields, removing tassel bags, or other used supplies from the fields, and shoots bags. Sorting harvest bundles for shelling hubs. Laying out harvested material in tubs for selection. The worker, in order to perform this kind of work must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite strength and endurance, working quickly and skillfully with their hands. The employer will provide the tools necessary (if applicable) to perform the job described without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker’s refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools.
Soy Harvest Harvesting soy plant pods plants, rows or other designations by hand, bundling rows together and material to threshers, trailers and combines, rogueing off-type plants, sampling harvested material for lab submission. Placing material into storage and processing areas.
Plot Maintenance Hand pulling weeds, hoeing weeds, rogueing off-type plants from both corn and soy field, placing stakes, attaching row tags.
Soy Threshing Operating single plant threshers and bulk threshers, moving processed inventory, counting seeds for winter planting.
Husk / Sort Description: The corn flows over the husking beds, which remove the husk. Once the corn is husked, it is added to the sorting tables where workers will check for any remaining husk on the ears. The workers will do quality checks looking for corn/ears that is discolored, abnormal or moldy and remove it from the sorting table.
Tissue Sampling Taking plant material samples with a sampling with a sampling tool and placing in sampling containers. PPE is required: Safety Glasses, gloves, and ear plugs are required and provided to the worker.
Van/Shuttle Driving: Transporting workers from housing sites and pick-up points to take to work sites and back, processing paperwork, inspections of vehicle, fueling of and cleaning of vehicle. The employer assures that the drivers are paid, at a minimum, the AEWR for actual driving time, processing paperwork, cleaning and fueling of vehicle. Workers who possess a valid driver’s license (state issued) and able to pass Class B Physical exam and register as an FLCE driver may be offered additional hours to drive shuttles/vans to and from worksites. The employer will be responsible for the cost of the state Driver’s License, Class B Physical Exam, and registration as an FLCE driver (if any). All employees in this position (H-2A as well as corresponding domestic workers), will have the opportunity to obtain a driver’s license (DL) and register as an FLCE driver on a voluntary basis. Obtaining a Driver’s License and FLCE Certificate are not a pre-hire job requirement.
Other Requirements: Workers seeking employment under this job order must be available for entire period requested by the employer.
The employer retains the right to discharge any obviously unqualified worker, malingerer, or recalcitrant worker who is physically able to complete the work but does not demonstrate a willingness to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product, or for any other lawful reason.
