Job Duties:

Nursery Specialist: a. Assists in installing tree grow bags, ensuring proper bag depth b. Ensures proper soil-to-soilless ratios are applied during planting c. Plants seedlings and larger trees requiring use of shovels d. Pots seedlings, prunes, spaces, irrigates and culls plants to ensure the availability of marketable products e. Loads/unloads trucks and wagons f. Workers will perform work including but not limited to planting, transplanting, watering in nurseries and seasonal holding houses g. Propagate plants from cuttings h. Remove plastic from seasonal holding houses in spring and cover seasonal holding houses with plastic in fall i. Fill, lift, and carry various-sized pots with soil and plants weighing as much as 60 pounds j. Plants must be handled carefully so minimal leaves, limbs, and roots are broken during the transplanting process k. Performs other duties involved in maintaining plant materials and nursery stock, holding yards, and shipping areas l. Your employer may ask you to carry out additional duties than those listed here Physical Requirements: • Able to lift 60 lbs. • Exposure to extreme temperatures (heat or cold) • Extensive pushing or pulling • Extensive sitting or walking (6 – 8 hours) • Frequent stooping or bending over. • Repetitive movements Supervisor(s) will provide instructions and directions to workers. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. Unusual, complex or non-routine activities will be supervised. Workers are expected to perform essential duties proficiently without close supervision. Employers may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or US federal holidays. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. The worker must report to work at the designated time and place daily. Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. The Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or other durable footwear. Shorts, bathing suits, or other casual clothing are not permitted. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not be permitted to start work. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Work Rules 1. Per the DOL, the Employer will reimburse the Worker for inbound travel, sustenance, or other DOL-allowable expenses only upon the Worker completing 50% of the contract. 2. Workers must perform their assigned work carefully and work in accordance with the provisions of the work contract. Sloppy work will not be tolerated. 3. Workers must report at the assigned time and place each workday as directed by the Employer or Employers representatives. 4. Workers may not take unauthorized breaks from work. Should the Worker need a break, he/she will immediately contact the Employer or Employers representative. 5. Workers may not leave an assigned work area without the permission of the Employer or Employers representative. 6. Workers may not enter the Employer's premises without authorization. 7. Workers may not begin work before the scheduled starting time or continue working after the stopping time unless authorized by the Employer/Employers representatives.
