- Job Duties:
- Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops such as working with augers, shovels, scoops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) such as combine, planter, sprayer, tillage tool to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as hay, wheat, soybeans, corn; Load inputs and drive trucks to transport to employer’s fields, load employer’s crops and drive trucks to transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, bins, silos, piles/bags in close proximity to the farm; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Regulate conditions; Attend to live farm animals including cattle such as feeding, watering, monitoring, herding, tagging, branding, segregating, moving, calving; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Attach implements using hand tools; speak and understand English. We will provide on the job training and orientation training to each individual to ensure that they are both ready to work in the current role as well as advancing in their given field. We will check in with workers to ensure that they are getting the training they need throughout the growing season. 5) The employer will purchase tools and equipment needed to make repairs and fencing easier and more safe, and the employer will purchase fans, heaters, and chillers for the cattle working facility. 6) There will be paid sick leave for all workers up to 8 hours per month (up to 6 days in a year). 7) the employer will pay for advertising to attract qualified workers. 8) USDA Research Participation: The employer will participate in a USDA-sponsored research study on agricultural labor practices. Workers may be invited to voluntarily participate in surveys or interviews. Participation or non-participation will not affect employment status, wages, or working conditions. 9) Know Your Rights and Resources (KYRR) Training: The employer will provide a mandatory 2-hour KYRR training to all workers at the beginning of their job contract. This training, conducted by a USDA- approved provider in a language understood by workers, will cover worker rights and available resources. Workers will be compensated at the required rate for this training time.
