Employee should be: • hardworking, with a good work ethic; • able to work in a fast-paced environment; • efficient, with great attention to detail; • team oriented, with ability to take direction; • willing to learn and adapt; • able to demonstrate initiative and recognize opportunity to go above and beyond; and • personable, friendly and demonstrate a positive attitude Tasks will include bed preparation; planting, transplanting, and seeding; weeding and cultivation; greenhouse work; crop management, such as, pruning and trellising; watering and irrigation; harvest and post-harvest work (wash, sort, grade and pack); cleaning and maintaining an organized work environment. Harvest vegetables while working outside in all types of weather according to size, shape and degree of maturity. Place vegetables into field containers. Must be able to work outdoors in dusty and dirty conditions, in extremes of heat and cold and in inclement weather. Must be able to crouch, bend, and sit on the ground, and lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to listen to, understand and follow simple operation tasks and ensure all work meets employer’s quality and food safety standards. Employer operates a certified organic farm and does not use harmful, synthetic chemicals to kill weeds, pests or to fertilize. If chemicals are used, the employer will comply with applicable re-entry restrictions in the field. Field operation tasks will include, but are not limited to those tasks listed above, as well as: mulch laying and removal; row cover management; disease and pest scouting; general farm maintenance; and hand weeding. Assist with staging, set up and breakdown at farmer’s market. Assist with CSA customer order boxes and distribution. Must be able to use hand tools such as: shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears and knives. Must be able to operate farm machinery, at least one worker shall have a valid driver's license. The employer, at no cost, will provide the worker with any tools or equipment necessary to perform required tasks. Workers will participate in the harvest and packing responsibilities by maintaining a neatly organized and clean harvest and storage environment and maintain harvest and distribution lists. Workers will assist with farm maintenance tasks like mowing and weed whacking. All work must be performed carefully, according to instructions to avoid damage or harm to crops. Tasks will be related to a diverse variety of crops. Crops may include but are not limited to the following: Leafy greens such as kale, chard, and spinach; root vegetables such as beets, turnips, radicchio, radish and carrot; other vegetable such as cabbage; beans; peppers; tomatoes; squash; peppers, cucumbers and melons. Workers may not report for work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The possession or use of illegal drugs or alcohol (exception is made for moderate alcohol consumption in company housing during non-working hours) on company property is prohibited and will because for termination. Employer paid post-hire drug testing is required upon reasonable suspicion of use.

Special Requirements:
During busy planting/harvest season workers may be requested to start earlier and work more than the scheduled 40 hours per week, including holidays. When weather is hot, starting and ending times may be shifted to earlier or later in the day. Lunches may be extended as needed during the hot summer months. This may vary depending on crop and weather conditions. To ensure availability of workers as needed different work crew schedules may be assigned to work different days of the week.
