Job Duties:
Crops/Commodities: Sugarcane. Job duties include operate trucks to transport sugarcane from the field to the mill; drop trailers at designated location; equipment operation, harvesting sugarcane, operation of cane harvester to cut/remove leaves from crop; load pieces of sugarcane into wagons; load/unload sugarcane; follow harvester on foot through the field and loading and unloading sites picking up dropped sugarcane; repair, maintain farm equipment; continued maintenance of farmland/farm equipment; use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, and knives; till soil; perform manual labor to assist in loading and unloading sugarcane; clean equipment using steam cleaners and/or high pressure water hoses; perform general farm maintenance. Check all farm equipment to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Assist with good agricultural practice policies. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. Employer is either a named plaintiff or a person or entity who is a member of the Teche Vermilion Sugar Cane Growers' Association, Inc., the Cora Texas Growers & Harvesters Agricultural Association, Inc. and/or the American Sugar Cane League as of November 7, 2024, who either grows, harvests, and/or processes sugar cane in Louisiana. Accordingly, the wage rate for this job opportunity is controlled by the Amended Preliminary Injunction Order issued by the Hon. Robert Summerhays on December 5, 2024, Rec. Doc. 61., Case 6:23 – cv – 00831. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. Workers will report to work at the designated time as directed by the employer or designated employee each day. Work begins as early as 3:00 am to load trucks. Workers will work in shifts to harvest, load and unload sugarcane; first shift will begin as early as 3:00 am and second shift will begin as early as 5:00 am. Additional hours may be offered on Sundays and federal holidays due to the mill operating 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. TERMINATION. Prior to any termination for cause, employer evaluates workers' performance of required tasks and compliance with Work Rules and other employer policies. Employer may terminate a worker for cause if the worker's performance consistently and/or substantially fails to satisfy the employer's reasonable expectations (in accordance with the criteria set forth herein), or otherwise engages in serious or egregious misconduct that endangers health, safety, or property. In assessing whether workers' performance meets reasonable expectations, employer evaluates, among other reasonable criteria, whether the worker: (1) has adequately complied with the Work Rules and any other policies or procedures; (2) has complied with all health and safety guidelines, including the use of tools or equipment in accordance with best practices to protect the employer's property, crops, and in a manner that avoids injury or damage; (3) has treated company property (tools, equipment, crops, fixtures, etc.

Special Requirements:
3 months of experience operating large tractors or operating trucks to haul cane. Workers will stoop, walk, sit, bend, reach and pull for prolonged periods of time; lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; work in inclement weather conditions including extreme heat, cold and/or rain; pass a physical exam at the employer's expense before starting work; hazardous occupation. Employer is a drug and alcohol free workplace. Drug testing is conducted post hire at the employers expense and is not part of the interview process. Negative results are requires before starting work. CDL license is required to operate truck to haul cane. All CSG Association Inc employees must have a clean driving record of non-at fault vehicle accidents and traffic violations within the company.
