Job Duties:

Manually plant, cultivate, & harvest vegetables & fruits including but not limitted to; broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, beans, squash, berries, corn, pumpkins, peaches, plums, apples, apricots, apples & pears. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives. Duties include tilling soil & applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops & applying pesticides. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings, or participate in irrigation activities. Set up & operate irrigation equipment. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow & fertilize soil or to plant, cultivate spray & harvest crops. Repair & maintain farm vehicles, implements & mechanical equipment. Harvest fruits & vegetables by hand. Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops. Inform farmers or farm manager of crop progress. Identify plants, pests, & weeds to determine the selection & application of pesticides & fertilizers. Clear and maintain irrigation ditches. Record information about crops, such as pesticides use, yields or costs. Employer will expect worker to pick a minimum of 100 bu boxes of apples with no more than 4% bruising. Employer will provide 4 days of training. Employers may conduct/require random illegal drug or alcohol tests at employer’s expense after hiring, for the safety of themselves and others. The Employer maintains a zero-tolerance policy for all employees regarding the use of illegal drugs and the abuse of alcohol and prescription drugs. Employees are prohibited from reporting to work impaired by any substance, legal or illicit, that affects their ability to perform their job duties safely and effectively. A positive drug test or a violation of this policy will lead to immediate corrective action, which may include termination Must be physically able to lift up to 75lbs on a consistent basis throughout the day. While working in the field, cell phone usage is limited to emergency use only. Phones use must be limited to break times and lunch break. Due to safety concerns on a farm, workers must understand basic instructions in English. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in this order. Special Requirements:

The employer will provide 4 days of training to allow workers to pick a minimum of 100 boxes of apples per day with no more than 4% bruising. The employer will not guarantee to pay the workers a bonus but reserves the right, at the employers sole discretion, to offer a bonus or to pay an hourly wage rate in excess of the highest applicable rate stated above based on individual factors including but not limited to longevity of employment or exceptional job performance. The employer reserves the right, at the employer's sole discretion, to temporarily raise the above listed piece rate due to crop conditions and/or change piece rate and the count per box due to unpredictable market requests. In the tasks where there is no prevailing practice to pay a piece rate, the employer, at his sole discretion, may opt to pay per hour to ensure a good quality product. The employer at his sole discretion can opt to pay a worker an hourly wage vs piece rate based on the worker's performance.
