- Louisiana Sunken Marsh Fisheries is a seasonal employer in need of 40 Temporary Full-Time Oyster Boat Deck Hand Workers starting 10/01/2021 through 08/01/2022. 3 months exp, no education. 40hrs/wk. Paid weekly. Employer will use a single work week as its standard for computing wages due. All deductions from the workers paycheck required by law will be made. Monday to Friday 7 hours (6:00AM to 1:00PM or 1:00PM to 7:00PM and Saturdays 5 hours (6:00AM to 11:00AM or 11:00AM to 4:00PM) Rotating Shift Work; no overtime available. Duties: Workers will work on large oyster boats catching oysters in the thousands in various parts of waters using dredge nets; workers will assist in the dropping of the dredge nets from boats into waters and passing dredge nets scraping the bottom surface where oysters are scooped up from catching; at the end of the run, dredge nets are then lifted on to boat decks filled with live oysters and gently placed on decks removing from nets, separating and measuring each oyster to ensure their growth has reached 3" in size to be eatable, younger oysters are returned to water; oysters are hosed down to ensure cleanliness, bagged, weighed, labeled and brought to port ready for pick-up by whole sellers or freezer trucks where oysters are brought to processing plant for process. The wage that the employer is offering, intends to offer or will provide to the H-2B workers, non-commuting United States Domestic Workers, Citizens and holders of visas that allow work in the US, or in the event that there are multiple wage offers (such as where an itinerary is authorized through special procedures for an employer), the range of applicable wage offers, each of which must equal or exceed the highest of the prevailing wage of the Federal, State, or local minimum wage. The prevailing wage is the higher of the wage issued by OFLC National Prevailing Wage Center on the collective bargaining agreement, occupational employment statistics survey, or private survey. Daily transportation will be provided to workers to and from main office located at 337 Broadway Avenue to job location located at 3282 Bayou Dularge Road, Theriot, LA 70397 in Terrebonne Parish County at no cost to workers. Public transportation is available to main office located at 337 Broadway Avenue, Schriever, LA 70395. The anticipated employment will last 120 days or more. Employer guarantees to offer work for a total number of hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Transportation for H-2B Visa workers and non-commuting United States Domestic Workers (Citizens and holders of visas that allow work in the US), including meals and lodging to the extent necessary, to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided, if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed earlier by the employer. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for workers reasonable costs of transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a workers voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least $13.17 p/day during travel to a maximum of $55.00 p/day with receipts.
