Job Duties:
Job Description: The Packaging Associate is a member of the packaging team focused on quality control to ensure all products are properly packaged to the company’s and customer’s specifications. This is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position. The primary job duties include: verify proper packaging is being used; ensure correct number of products are included in packages; pack product into polybags; seal package using twist-tie machine and check that the package seals properly; perform product inspections, discard product that does not meet our quality standards; communicate any issues to the packaging supervisor; promote safety in all areas of operations; maintain cleanliness of the work area. Assurances: Employer will provide workers with all tools, supplies, and equipment needed to perform the job at no cost to the employee. Housing Assistance: Lodging (optional): Employer may assist workers in securing board, lodging, or other facilities. Workers are informed that housing is strictly voluntary/optional and may elect to provide their own housing. Housing secured with the employer’s assistance is not free of charge and employees must pay rent directly to the landlord. The estimated monthly rent is approximately $500-800 per worker. Employer is not a housing provider and will not operate housing inhabited by employees. Employer may provide daily transportation to and from the worksite free of charge if living in housing secured with the employer’s assistance, if needed.

Basic Literacy skills. Able to read and comprehend verbal or written instructions, signage, warning signs. Able to count and perform basic math. Able to comprehend production schedule. Capable of maneuvering up to 50 pounds and lifting approximately 20 pounds throughout a workday. Able to stand for extended periods of time, physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant. Able to view product and determine adherence to quality control standards including size, shape, color, and cut. Able to perform all duties so as not to damage the product. Able to practice necessary food safety and personal safety procedures. Workers will be paid no less than $15.30 per hour. Workers will be paid BI-WEEKLY by check. For work performed in California, an overtime premium will be paid when required by Federal, State, or local law, including at time-and-a-half after eight hours in a day and for the first eight hours on the seventh consecutive day of work in a workweek; at double-time after 12 hours in a day and for all hours worked in excess of eight on the seventh consecutive day of work in a workweek; and at time-and-a-half after 40 hours in a workweek. The overtime rate (time-and-a-half) is $22.95.
